  Day 1:  Arrive to Yangon
 

Arrival at Yangon International Airport where you will be welcomed by Tamarind’s tour guide and transfer to hotel.

  Walking tour in the heart of Yangon, where we will see the architecture, and have opportunities to take photographs of Burma’s Capital.
Afternoon sightseeing includes:
  Chauk Htut Gyi Reclining Buddha Image, Botataung Pagoda and Nanthida Jetty.
  Evening visit Shwedagon Pagoda.
   

Overnight in Yangon.

  Day 2:   Yangon/ Mandalay - Amarapura - by morning flight
 

After arrival in Mandalay we will visit Amarapura, an 18th century capital of Myanmar.

  Maha Gandayon Monastery and observe the daily meal of over a thousand monks at the country's largest Monastery.
  A silk weaving work place; the craft specialty of Amarapura. It is not unusual to find the silk woven in Amarapura donned during many of Myanmar’s special occasions, such as a wedding ceremony or graduation.
Afternoon visit Mandalay:
  Maha Muni Image - the most sacred Pagoda in Upper Myanmar. Tapestry workshop where the finest tapestries in Myanmar are laboriously handmade with excellent attention to detail. Shwenandaw Monastery and Kuthodaw Pagoda with its 729 stone slabs of Buddha’s scriptures (known as the world's biggest book).
  Mandalay Hill; enjoy the magnificent landscape over the city from this vantage point.

  Day 3:   Mandalay - Pyin Oo Lwin by car
 

We will take a 2 hours scenic drive to Pyin Oo Lwin - over 2000 feet above sea level-and because of its temperate climate you will see the variety of plants, fruits and vegetables grown in this region.

 
It was originally called May Myo (May-town), after Colonel May of the 5th Bengal Infantry. The town was founded in 1896, as a hill station where the colonial government could come to escape from the heat of lower and upper Burma. After the construction of the railroad from Mandalay, May Myo became the summer resort for the British colonial administration, to the end of British rule in 1948.
    The name was changed after British departed to Pyin Oo Lwin means City of Flowers. Colonial buildings remain, the families of decendents of the Indian and Nepali workers who came burma to lay the railway line and construct the road to Lashio still live in the peaceful town.
  Sightseeing includes;
 
Pwe Kauk Water Falls called Hampshire Falls in British times.
 
A visit to the market and see Shan style antique shops, sweater knitting, vegetables, and flowers of roses & dahlias. Purcell Tower-a 75 feet high clock tower built in 1936 that still chimes every 15 minutes.
 
Taking a horse cart to Cadacraige House built in 1904, accommodating for the British Officers who worked for Bombay Burma Timber Company during their summer holiday.
 
And proceed to Botanical Garden - was built under the direction of Colonel May utilizing Turkish prisoners of WWII.

Overnight in Pyin Oo Lwin.

  Day 4:   Pyin Oo Lwin - Mandalay
 
Morning visit to Pyin Oo Lwin. After that en route to Mandalay.

Check in at hotel and take a leisure.

 
We will start afternoon visit to see the work place of tapestry which is one of the traditional arts of Myanmar.

We will take a walk along on 1.2 kilometer long bridge, built in 109 years ago. The sunset view at U Bein Bridge will offer you unforgettable memory.

Overnight in Mandalay.

  Day 5:   Mandalay – Mingun Saggaing – 2 Nights trip by River cruise
 
  Mandalay - Check-in Time
 
The embarkation time is at 12.00 hrs. (RV Paukan / 1 2.30 hrs) at Gawein jetty. Welcome Cocktail in the Saloon.
   
  Upstream to Mingun
 
Lunch will be served at 13.00. The sailing time is about 2 hrs. The cruise English speaking manager will assist the guests during the visit of the Mingun Pagoda Complex.
   
 
Moor Overnight at a sandbank mid-stream. After dinner guests can enjoy a Dance and Drama performance by the Mandalay Arts School on the sundeck (if available).
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
  Day 6:   Mingun - Sagaing - River Village
 
  Downstream to Sagaing
 
Early in the morning cruise downstream. During the 2 hours journey we can admire the natural beauty of the river and the life of its banks while relaxing on the sundeck or just sitting outside their own cabin. Enjoy the sunrise over Sagaing Hill.
  Visit Sagaing
 
After breakfast we can go ashore to visit Sagaing with the assistance of our Ship Manager or their own guide.
  Downstream to Bagan
 
The cast off time is at 11 .1 5 hrs. Lunch will be served at 1 3.00.
 
In the late afternoon we stop at Yandabo, a village specialize in Pot-Making, where the peace treaty of the First Anglo-Burmese war was signed on Feb. 24, 1826.
 
Cruise all day and moor overnight near a river village. Moor overnight near the village of Shwe Nann Tint.
  Day 7: Arrive to Bagan

Early in the morning we proceed downriver to Bagan. After breakfast (if time permits) we visit another typical river village.
  Check-Out Time
 
Enjoy the sunrise near Bagan. We will disembark at Aye Yar jetty around 10.15 hrs.
  After arrival,
 
we will visit to Shwezigon Pagoda; originally name “Land of Victory”, built by Burmese Hero King Anawrahta in the early 11th Century.
 
Next visit to Anada Temple: It is one of the most impressive and exquisite monuments of Bagan. It is built by King Kyansittha in 1091 A.D. Ananda is the best preserved example of Bagan architecture. Both on the exterior and interior, find carved stones, plaster and wood bear witness to the superb craft of the masters of Bagan.
  After that we enjoy lunch, then check in at Hotel. Leisure for a few moments. Evening sightseeing starts with:
 
Thabyinnyu Temple; was built in 1144 AD by King Alaungsithu, the noted sea-traveler of the dynasty. It is about 201 feet (61 meters) high and the tallest in Bagan.
   
From Thabyinnyu Temple, we will take a horse cart to the Shwesandaw Pagoda affording unequaled views of Bagan’s landscape.
 
Shwesandaw Pagoda is the first architecturally developed Bagan stupa. Popularly believed to have been by King Anawrahta to enshrined the “Sacred hair Relic” brought back to Bagan after the raid on Thaton, which had been presented to him by the king of Pegu. The Shwesandaw is not only a giant reliquary, built to hold a prize, but a monument to a successfully completed military campaign and symbols of Bagan’s transition from the parochial to the imperial.
   
The Shwesandaw is the first stupa in Burma, pyramidally-shaped, with tall and steep terraces, that have medial stairways. We will climb up to the brick-stairs way and enjoy the sunset view offers our guests unforgettable memory.

  Day 8:  Bagan
 
 
In the morning, we will visit to Nyaung Oo Typical market to observe to the village people who live in the dry zone of Central Myanmar how they trade in lively morning to survive their daily life.
 
Spend the day seeing the ancient temples renown:
 
Wetgyi-in Gyubyaukgyi Temple; it was built in early 13th century by a son of King Kyansittha. There is large shrine room attached to a smaller antechamber. This temple is known for its well preserved colorful wall paintings depicting scenes from the 550 jatak life stories of Buddha. Many of the scenes, however, were stolen in 1899.
 
Htilominlo Temple; It was named after its builder, King Nadaungmya. According to the chronicles, the king built this temple on the spot where he was chosen as the crown prince out of five sons of King Narapatisithu.
 
Dhamayangyi Temple; It is the biggest temple in Bagan built by King Narathu.
 
After lunch, we will continue visit to Minanthu village for an extra day after Bagan visiting. It is a 20 minute drive from Bagan.
   
We can observe the lifestyle of this Dry Zone and see how they survive for daily life, workplaces of spin, oil-press with ox driven from peanuts, sunflowers seeds, sesame seeds, heat iron tire and fit on the cart wheel, the feature of upcountry village homes, how they get drinking water as there is very dry zone. The visit will take us for half day.

Overnight in Bagan.

  Day 9:   Bagan - Mt. Popa - Bagan
 
 
We will drive for an hour to Mt. Popa (4981 feet), an extinct volcano, with temperate weather and lush green landscape.
  Lunch at Popa Mountain Resort restaurant.
 
On the way back to Bagan, we will observe the agrarian lifestyle of this region farmers extracting palm juice from palm trees and making a local favorite candy with the same palm juice called jaggery.

we will proceed to the work place of handmade lacquerware, and observe the detailed process of the making of Myanmar lacquerware & its products.
 
We will take a few moment rest in the afternoon.
 
Enjoy sunset from Pya Thatgyi Temple which can offer you landscape view of Bagan Plain.

Overnight in Bagan.

  Day 10:   Bagan/ Yangon by morning flight, depart from Yangon
 

Transfer to Nyaung Oo airport to take flight to Yangon.

After arrival to Yangon, visit to Bogyoke market.

For your information, Tamarind does not work shopping tour. Our itineraries include visiting to markets, workshops that intend to have an observation of local trading trends, the process of art & craft, the ways how locals survive for their family living. If our guests are not interested in visiting those spots, please kindly skip the venues.

Free time before departure.Transfer to Yangon International Airport.
