The North

Hanoi lies at the heart of the region. Just east of Hanoi, the busy port of Haiphong leads the way to the 3,000 islands of the stunning Ha Long Bay, most of which ae unlivable but are stunning set of towering limestone formation in jungle.

The northern highlands, occupying the northwest tip of Vietnam, are known for their beauty with mountains, green valleys. The inhabitants are mostly ethnic minority hill tribes. Popular destinations are Sapa, Lao Cai, Son La, and Dien Bien Phu. Vietnams tallest mountain Fansipan (3,143 m/10,312 ft), hovers over Sapa.

This program will offer you experiencing the north of Vietnam.

Day 1: Hanoi Arrival

Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, your guide and private car will meet and transfer to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the night is at your leisure.

Day 2: Hanoi – Ha Long Bay – Hanoi

Distance: 151 km, 3.5 hours drive

07:00 – Enjoy breakfast at hotel.
08:00 – Depart for Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Ha Long Bay is a beautiful natural wonder in northern Vietnam. The Bay is dotted with 1,600 limestone islands and islets and covers an area of over 1500 square km. Travel time is approximately 3.5 hours including a short visit to a center for the handicapped people in Bac Ninh province.

Arrive in Ha Long Bay around 12:00.

12:30 – Take 4-hour Ha Long bay cruise trip – a spectacular seascape sculpted by nature comprised of multitude of limestone islands and islets rising from the sea, in a variety of sizes and shapes. Kissing Rocks – the most extensive and best known example of marine-invaded tower karst in the world. They are unique islets with the shape of two giant chickens on Ha Long Bay. One has the shape of a rooster, and the other looks similar to a hen.

Later, see Thien Cung Grotto, Dau Go Cave – two of the most beautiful caves in Ha Long Bay.

17:00 – Depart for Hanoi. On the way, stop at Hai Duong Province to enjoy dinner

Day 3: Hanoi – tour in Hanoi, Hanoi – Sapa

07:00 – Enjoy breakfast at hotel and check-out.
08:00 – Start exploring Hanoi by touring some major historic sites, visit to Ba Dinh Square, learn about President Ho Chi Minh’s life and his career at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

Discover the role of Buddhism in Hanoi at the historical One Pillar Pagoda, considered one of Vietnam’s most iconic temples with its typical architecture, originally built in 1049.

Finish your tour by visiting Temple of Literature, the first university of Vietnam.

12:00 – Enjoy lunch at local restaurant.

Hanoi – street scenes

Hanoi – Sapa
Distance: 315 km, 5 – 6 hours drive

13:00 – Depart for Sapa. Sapa is the home of dramatic landscapes, colorful hilltribes, lush verdant rice terraces. This trip offers wonderful experiences.
19:00 – Arrive at Sapa and check in at a hotel.
19:30 – Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Accommodation: The View hotel (or similar).

Day 4: Sapa – tour in Sapa

Sapa – Hanoi to take departure flight

07:00 – Enjoy breakfast at hotel.
08:00 – Visit Ham Rong Mountain (Dragon’s Jaw Mountain) – don’t miss the numerous kinds of flowers and orchard gardens. The scenery hidden in the fog and echo sound from bamboo flute of Mong minority boy change this place into a heaven on the earth. See the peak of Fansipan under clear skies with white cloud floating around from the San May peak (Cloud Yard). These places also offer a great view to French villas and terraced fields below.

12:00 – Relax and have lunch at a local restaurant.
13:30 – Visit Silver Waterfall. It is about 15 km from Sapa toward Lai Chau. The scenery along the way, the pine forest, and the “su su” spread over the hills. With more than 100 meters high, the white water flows down as silver so that people in here called the waterfall with the romantic name “Silver Waterfall”.

15:30 – Fansipan is the indispensable destination for tourists who travel to Sapa. That is the highest mountain in the Indochina, stands at 3,143 meters. The mountain is located in the heart of the Hoang Lien Son Range. You will have a chance to discover the flora and fauna. From the top of the mountain you can see the panoramic see all majestic sceneries of Sapa.

19:00 – Enjoy diner at a local restaurant.
20:30 – Free time to discover Sapa at night.

Suggestions: The church of Sapa is always a place where holds many traditional cultural activities of ethnic minorities. In the front of the church is tennis area which has unique cultural activities of local people on Saturday. With flute, trumpet leaves, “xòe” dance… created sparkling, magical atmosphere in Sapa.

Day 5: Sapa – Departure

07:00 – Breakfast at hotel and check-out.
08:00 – Depart for Noi Bai International Airport.
